Marylebone - London - 2018
Client: Osmond Capital Ltd. Architect: Michaelis Boyd Architects
The Brief was to create a cool hangout, suitable for any meet up. Marylebone has many great shops, cafes, pubs and high end restaurants, but there was no spot for the locals to eat, drink and relax. It was important to create an easy going space where you never feel under or over dressed. The main concept was based on the “detox-retox” principle which was easily achieved over the two floors. The ground floor is this super healthy, clean British garden area, which encourages your 8am post pilates appetite. It is also a space where you can catch up over coffee or have a business lunch. You then descend the reclaimed staircase to the basement area. The existing staircase was stripped back and exposed, to allow more natural light into the basement. Interactive screens decorate the walls, which invite the guests into this cosy Tropical bar area. The walls were removed to expose the existing brick work which mirrors the natural elements of the above floor. Styled with potted plants, colourful patterns and soft lighting helped transform this restaurant overflow into The place to meet.
